Listening Party

I’ve never developed a discerning ear for the difference between analog and digital formats. Though some claim to hear warmth or clarity unique to one or the other, those distinctions are largely imperceptible to me. My interest in listening isn’t technicalβ€”it’s emotional, almost ritualistic. Albums, whether tightly curated or completely chaotic, offer a kind of catharsis. I’m drawn to both the precision of a well-structured track-list and the rawness of something imperfect, where the creator’s intent is still palpable, even in disarray.

Listening Party began as a casual segment on an old blog: a real-time engagement with an album, listening and writing simultaneously, responding as the music unfolded. What started as an experiment has since evolved into a reflective practice. It’s less about critique and more about presenceβ€”observing what an album does to the mind while it’s happening.

Now Playing is focused on albums.

Solo Listening is focused on individual songs.
